www.windward.hawaii.edu
With a generous gift from WCC community member, Kawika Sakai, WCC Library congratulates Elevila (Ele) Thompson, first-place winner of $100 in the Abraham Lincoln Poster Contest. The words of President Lincoln in his Emancipation Proclamation and Gettysburg Address inspired Thompson to design and illustrate the winning poster that includes images from the civil war, civil rights era and today. The contest gave WCC students an opportunity to be a part of Lincoln’s bicentennial birth celebrations taking place across the country. Thompson is a member of the National Pacific Islander Educator Network (NPIEN), based in Lakewood, CA.
