Pacific Islander Health Partnership (PIHP) presents 2nd Pacific Islander Festival to be held in Orange County, September 19-20, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Huntington Beach Central Library Park.
Featuring cultural traditions, performances and the arts of Pacific Island peoples representing: Hawai`i, Sāmoa, Tonga, Aotearoa, Tahiti (Polynesia), Guam, Northern Marianas, Marshall Islands (Micronesia), Fiji (Melanesia). Presenting Island Villages with cultural demonstrations, “hands-on traditional arts projects”, coconut and pandanus plaiting (weaving), fresh floral lei making, tapa making and design, toere drumming, music, storytelling and exhibits of island artifacts. Traditional island ceremony with authentic Island performances of song, dances, and chants will be featured from center stage.
Come and enjoy traditional Island cuisine, Hawaiian style shave ice, and other Island delights. A great way for the entire family to experience and enjoy our Pacific Island communities here in Orange County. Free parking, free admission.
