I wanted to let everyone know of a scholarship opportunity open to Samoan high school seniors in CA. Together Samoa (TS) and Samoan Achievers International (SAI) are partnering up to offer TWO $500 scholarships to 2 high school seniors who are planning on attending ANY college next year (trade school, community college, 4 year universities, etc.- all that are continuing their education beyond HS are welcomed to apply!).
We are asking those who are eligible and interested in applying to write a 3-4 page typed essay about an elder who has helped them to learn more about fa'aSamoa-- the Samoan way. Attached is the essay prompt and application that must be completed and submitted NO LATER than APRIL 9, 2010 at 7 pm PST,
The winners will receive a $500 scholarship, become a published author in an anthology, and be recognized at the Annual SAI Awards Gala held at Long Beach Hyatt!

About Together Samoa: Together Samoa (TS) is a coalition of Polynesian families, students, community leaders and church members in the SF Bay Area and Long Beach/Carson area in California whose mission is to EDUCATE, ENGAGE, and EMPOWER Polynesian youth in culture, education, and community. More recently, Together Samoa has donated $3,000 to immediate tsunami disaster relief in Samoa and American Samoa following the September 29th tsunami and has raised an additional $4,000 to donate to schools impacted by the tsunami.
