Moorehouse College Scholarships

Hello everyone,

On behalf of the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) and CDC in an effort to increase the pipeline for our Native Hawaiians & Pacific Islander (NHPI) in Public Health; we are now into our 2nd year in extending this special invitation to all our Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander communities nationwide including our US Jurisdictions. The APIAHF is offering four (4) full scholarships to qualified undergraduates (juniors and seniors) and recent graduates (class of 2009) to apply for this 11-week summer internship program.

Attached you will find a ready to print flyer for your use of important information on the application process. The online application is now live online http://stdapp.morehouse.edu:8080/imhotep. Please share the attached information with your network and college affiliates.

First, the application will go through an initial screening of minimum criteria (G.P.A, etc.) by Morehouse College. Second, the NHPI students who pass the first screening will receive an invitation for an interview with the selection committee. The APIAHF and CDC will part take in the interview and selection process. Once the four scholarship recipients are selected, the remainder NHPI applicants who passed the first screening are still eligible for the general selection process by Morehouse College. This means our NHPI students have two chances to be selected.

Here is another opportunity for our NHPI professionals in Public Health and related fields. Morehouse College is now opening this opportunity for our own NHPIs to be a mentor to our own students. Please share the attached information with your colleagues.

I know this is a lot of information but we want to make sure the flyer is sent out immediately. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please email me at tvremmers@apiahf.org or call me direct at 415-568-3306?

Your assistance in getting this information out to your community is much appreciated. Let's help our NHPI students get the opportunity they deserve. Please read about our 2009 NHPI Project IMHOTEP graduates at www.apiahf.org/imhotepstudents . Again, your help and much appreciated.

Thank you

Ia manuia
