NPIEN Mentoring Programs Begins Soon

The National Pacific Islander Educator Network (NPIEN) is pleased to announce its annual Mentoring Program:

ASIAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDER HERITAGE MONTH 9th ANNUAL SCHOOL MENTORING VISITS

In the months of March, April, May, and June, NPIEN Board members and other community professionals will be holding lunch-time meetings with Pacific Islander students for the purpose of mentoring.

We would like to provide a guest speaker for your students, for about 30 minutes, to talk to elementary, middle, or high school students about their ancestry, profession/avocation , and the importance of education. As there are few Pacific Islander professionals or educators, this is a significant program to motivate Pacific Islanders and other underrepresented students. Please indicate your interest and the dates you would like us to participate, no later than February 20, 2010.

Refer to our website, www.npien.com for further information. We have resources for Students, Parents, and Teachers. Contact Dr. Victor Thompson, Executive Director at (562) 496-2319 or npien.mail@verizon.net

Sincerely,

Falanai Ala
